Prevailing Wage Task Force Formed
The Hayward Democratic Club has formed a Prevailing Wage Task Force under the direction of Chris Stampolis, Director of Government Relations for the Laborers International Union, Local 304 located in Hayward.
Mr. Stampolis was the keynote speaker at the Hayward Demos potluck on Jan. 8th, where he spoke about the importance of progressives staying energized and involved since the election of President Obama. One way the clubs can stay involved locally is to insure that state prevailing wage laws are being followed by the various local governement agencies which are responsible for selecting contractors for various public projects.
The task force was formed to track upcoming local public contracts and to determine if only legitimate bids are being considered. Members of the task foce include Tom Kersten, Helena Straughter, Sara Lamnin, Jim Forsyth, and Jennifer Ong. The next meeting with be held on Friday Jan 22nd at the Laborers' Union, Local 304 29475 Mission Blvd. Hayward, CA.
